What Our Students Say

Real stories from students who achieved their dream of studying abroad with our guidance and support.

“I got the GKS Undergraduate scholarship through StudyKorea Nepal. They helped me write a study plan that really stood out. I am now doing Computer Science at Korea University, and everything is covered — tuition, living, even my flight. The 1-year Korean language training was incredible. I went from zero Korean to TOPIK 4 in one year. Seoul is an amazing city and my Korean classmates are so welcoming. Best decision of my life.”

“I applied for GKS Graduate (Masters) in Electrical Engineering at KAIST. StudyKorea Nepal helped me connect with a professor before applying, which made all the difference. My professor agreed to supervise me, and I got the scholarship. KAIST is an incredible place for research — world-class labs, brilliant colleagues, and Daejeon is so much more affordable than Seoul. My monthly allowance of ₩1,200,000 lets me live comfortably and even save money.”

“I came to Korea through a language school program recommended by StudyKorea Nepal. After 1 year of intensive Korean study, I passed TOPIK 4 and got admitted to Sungkyunkwan University for Business Administration with a 70% tuition scholarship. The language school pathway worked perfectly for me. I now work part-time at a Korean company's international department and plan to do my MBA here.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the GKS scholarship and how do I apply from Nepal?
The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), formerly KGSP, is a fully funded Korean government scholarship for international students. It covers full tuition, monthly living allowance (₩900,000 for undergrad, ₩1,200,000 for Masters, ₩1,500,000 for PhD), round-trip airfare, settlement allowance, medical insurance, and 1 year of Korean language training. Nepali students apply through the Korean Embassy in Kathmandu (Embassy track) or directly through Korean universities (University track). Applications typically open in February-March each year. Nepal receives approximately 20-35 slots across undergraduate and graduate levels.
How much does it cost to study in South Korea from Nepal?
Korea is one of the most affordable developed countries for study. National university tuition: ₩4,000,000-6,000,000/year (NPR 4.2-6.3 lakh). Private university tuition: ₩6,000,000-10,000,000/year (NPR 6.3-10.5 lakh). Living costs: ₩600,000-1,000,000/month (NPR 63,000-105,000). Total annual cost before scholarships: NPR 12-23 lakh. With university scholarships (30-100% tuition reduction based on TOPIK score) and part-time work, your actual cost can be as low as NPR 3-5 lakh/year. Compare this with Australia (NPR 40-80 lakh/year) or the USA (NPR 30-85 lakh/year).
Do I need to know Korean to study in South Korea?
Not necessarily. Many Korean universities offer degree programs taught entirely in English, especially at the graduate level. GKS scholars receive 1 year of intensive Korean language training before starting their degree. For Korean-taught programs, you need TOPIK Level 3 minimum (Level 4 recommended). For self-funded students, having TOPIK certification significantly increases your scholarship chances. Even for English-taught programs, we recommend learning basic Korean as it dramatically improves your daily life and job prospects in Korea.
What is TOPIK and why does it matter?
TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) is the standardized Korean language proficiency test, scored from Level 1 (beginner) to Level 6 (advanced). It matters because: (1) University admission for Korean-taught programs requires TOPIK 3-4+, (2) Many universities offer automatic tuition scholarships based on TOPIK level — TOPIK 5-6 can get you 70-100% tuition reduction, (3) Part-time work permission requires TOPIK 2+, (4) Job seeking after graduation is much easier with TOPIK 4+. TOPIK is held 6 times per year in Korea and 2 times per year in Nepal. We help you prepare and register.
Can I work while studying in South Korea?
Yes. D-2 student visa holders can work part-time after their first semester. With TOPIK Level 3+, you can work up to 20 hours per week during the academic term and longer during vacations. The minimum wage is ₩9,860/hour (2024). Common jobs: convenience stores (GS25, CU, 7-Eleven), restaurants, cafes, English tutoring, factory work, and delivery services. Many students earn ₩800,000-1,200,000/month, which covers most living expenses.
